Dr. Guy,

I was extremely scared about statistics, but I made it through! Thanks for all your help. You are a great teacher, and I enjoyed the class.

Final

I just want to say WOW....to the final (didnt do so well)

Dr. Guy , I have really enjoyed this class and you are a great professor. I have never had a professor like you nor one that takes the time to break the lessons down.

I hope everyone else are happy with their grades and have a great semester!!!

A4P8 Data

You will need 40 rows and 2 columns. In the attached image file, you can see almost all of the data.

4-8 pspp

When I enter the information for problem 4-8. It is not giving me enough room to put in all the information. It is only letting me put information in for 17 rows. I assume that I will need 40 rows, 10 for each of the 4 groups. I'm not sure what I am doing wrong.

homework and quizzes

Hello Dr. Guy,

So if we do not have everything completed by midnight tonight. We will receive an incomplete grade. What if we have finished everything by Monday. I may need a few extra days.

agree with this. i'm really close to being done w/ everything, but there is no way i can have it turned in by tonight @ midnight. i totally understand that if everyone turned things in at the very last minute, then Dr. Guy would be swamped with grading. but hopefully sunday to monday will still be okay! *fingers crossed*

  Dr. Rebecca Guy  says:
I will only resort to incompletes if I receive 200+ papers within the last 24 hours.

pSPP-Assignment #5

I am having a hard time with the PSPP. Once I input the data and try to analyze it Im not sure where to go from there. I was able to use the links in the syllabus at first (The ones that put the data into pspp for you then u just analyze from there but that isnt working anymore, for whatever reason). Can someone tell me what I am supposed to do after I input my data into PSPP for assignment 5#3?

Homework 5 Question 2-7

On homework 5 question 2-7, I am confused on what the answer is. The table states that (O-E) is how you find the deviation between the observed and expected frequencies, but it is not given a term. Is this correct?
Posted by      Larry C. at 2:14 PM CDT
  Dr. Rebecca Guy  says:
The answer is Chi Square or the Chi Square Test.

SPSS/PSPP output is not readable

You are telling me my SPSS/PSPP output is not readable. What can I do to fix this?
Posted by      Vernois B. at 12:39 PM CDT
  Dr. Rebecca Guy  says:
You need to save the SPSS/PSPP output as an IMAGE FILE using a screen capture program.

Homework 5

I am having trouble finding the answer to 2-6. Is it related or independent?

  Joyce McKee  says:
Brennan,
The answer is independent.

FInal Exam

Dr. Guy,

Will we know are grade from the homework and quizzess before we take the final? and if we get a C or better will the Final exam hurt us if we get a low grade on it, or will it just add points to are grade?
Posted by      Judith J. at 10:36 AM CDT
  Dr. Rebecca Guy  says:
If you message me about your grade (once you have completed all assignments and quizzes), I will message you back with your grade prior to taking the final.

Homework & Quizzes

I thought all the work was supposed to be completed by the 14th of October, and there is an announcement saying the 7th of October now. I'm confused. I really need until the 14th for my quizzes and homeworks.

  Laura Alexander  says:
I sent her an email this afternoon asking the same question! Hopefully we'll hear something back soon because I'm right there with you!
Posted on Tue, 4 Oct 2011 11:50 PM CDT by Laura A.
  Dr. Rebecca Guy  says:
The actual DUE DATE is October 7.

Please see the following links:

I will accept it late but if everyone turned in their homework and quizzes late, I would have to grade 1000 papers in a two-three day period. Please DO NOT put me in that position.

You are likely to receive a grade of INCOMPLETE if that happens.

f critical

Are the f critical values always listed as positive values?
Posted by      brennan c. at 11:13 AM CDT
  Dr. Rebecca Guy  says:
Yes. F is an entirely POSITIVE distribution as F is the ratio of two variance estimates and variance is always positive.
