Thalassophobia Fear of Water in Video Games

Thalassophobia is an intense and persistent fear of the sea. Thalassophobia can include fear of being in deep bodies of water, fear of the vast emptiness of the sea, of sea waves, sea creatures, and fear of distance from land.

Thalassophobia is often thought of as something that only impacts individuals in real life. However, for many people, this fear of the sea and being underwater transfers over to videogames.

I am one of those people. I’ve missed out on some great games due to fear of water. I’ve made friends complete any water-related tasks in multiplayer games. I know how anxiety and fear-inducing these scenarios can be.
